Simon Poirier

PhD, Postdoctoral researcher

Simon Poirier is a postdoctoral researcher specialised in microbial ecology. During his PhD, he studied the influence of different inhibitors on the microbial dynamics of anaerobic digesters treating food waste. His results led to the definition of microbial bioindicators associated to the performance of the digester and to the implementation of inovative ecological engineering strategies based on the addition of support media mitigating these inhibitions. Today, his research is part of the REDLOSSES project (funded by the National French Research Agency), which aims at better understanding and predicting food spoilage using a multi-omic approach (metagenomics, metatranscriptomics and metabolomics). Simon is particularely interested in the characterization of the phenomenon ruling complex microbiomes (bioprocesses, food, microbiote humain).
