Tommy Joncart

Post-bachelor trainee (June - August 2014)

Hello, my name is Tommy Joncart, I did a research internship within the PhylHom team in the French national institute for agricultural research. As supervisors Marion Leclerc (PhD) and Daphné Jaoui (Student PhD), I focused on the impact of dietary proteins on the gut microbiota and human health. To this end, I investigated the ability of bacterial strains from gut microbiota to degrade proteins of dietary or medical significance.

For the acedemic year 2014-2015, I am an exchange student at the University of Calgary in Canada as part of my first year of master degree "Applied microbiology and biological engineering". Also, I am involved in a research project with supervisor Rebekah DeVinney (Associate professor) in the Medical sciences faculty. I am studying the host-pathogen relationship between the bacteria Vibrio parahaemolyticus causing acute diarrhea in humain and the "Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs)".
