Ziad Alnabhani

Post-doctoral engineer (October 2013 - September 2014)

The research goals of Ziad have focused on the crosstalk between the intestinal immune system, the epithelium and the microbiota. In September 2013, he received his PhD in Physiology and Physiopathology at Université Paris Diderot - Paris 7. He realized his thesis under the supervision of Pr. Jean-Pierre Hugot and Dr. Frédérick Barreau at INSERM Unit 843. He investigated the role of the Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-containing protein 2 (Nod2) in the pathogenesis of Crohn's disease. To achieve the goals of his project, Ziad has interacted with the INSERM Unit 1163 headed by Nadine Cerf-Bensussan and with the team "Functionality of the Intestinal Ecosystem" (FInE) at INRA Jouy-en-Josas. He was recruited in this latter to make its first Post-Doc October 2013-September 2014. He studied the fecal microbial composition in premature infants with necrotizing enterocolitis by pyrosequencing. Currently, Ziad continued his research at Pasteur Institute as Post-Doc in the microenvironment and immunity unit headed by Pr. Gérard Eberl. His project aims to understand the role of the gut microbiota in the development of the immune system during weaning.
