My research project aims to discover specific inhibitors of MreB by screening a bank of molecules.

Using the Bacillus subtilis bacteria as a model, I'm interested in the MreB protein. The latter is the bacterian homolog of actin, which is involved in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall and is essential for growth. It therefore constitutes a prime target for the search for inhibitory molecules, both from a fundamental point of view (as a study tool) and as applied (as a potential antibiotic).
