Project Description

Within the team ProCeD, Magali Ventroux was in charge of the study of protein complexes involved in morphogenesis, the cytoskeleton and cell wall biogenesis in Bacillus subtilis. For that purpose, she combined different approaches, including interactomics (Yeast-Two-Hybrid), epi-fluorescent microscopy and gene expression analysis.
She was involved in several projects in the lab of Dr. Rut Carballido-López. These include:

  • A project on the study of the expression regulation of cytoskeleton genes, and particularly on the possible regulation by a peptide of unknown function.
  • A collaboration with Dr. Cíaran Condon of the Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique (IBPC, CNRS, Paris) whose objective is to characterise a protein involved in the B. subtilis sporulation process.
  • The ANR project BacVirRemodel in collaboration with Dr Paulo Tavares’laboratory (Département de Virologie, CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette). The aim of the project is to characterize molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the formation of machineries required for phage SPP1 replication and the assembly of phage particles in its host B. subtilis.
  • A project led by Dr. Ruth Keary to investigate the function of the genes MreC and MreD involved in the shape determination of bacteria.
