Description of the Project done in the ProCed lab:

He was interested in how cells organize themselves internally to realize a specific form and function. There are many pieces to this puzzle, each one involving careful examination of intracellular location and dynamics of individual proteins and protein complexes.
Using B. Subtilis as a model system, he studied how rod-shaped bacteria elongate their sidewalls by the coupled action of elongation-specific cell wall biosynthetic complexes and the underlying the actin-like MreB cytoskeleton.
