Anchita won the Best In-Person Rookie Judge Award at the iGEM Jamboree 2025

The International Genetic Engineering Machine (iGEM) competition is the world’s biggest synthetic biology competition. The World Expo of Synthetic Biology took place this year on 28-31 October in Paris.

During this iGEM jamboree 2025, Anchita Sharma won the Best In-Person Rookie Judge Award. This award recognises first-time judges who demonstrate exceptional engagement during the competition. 400+ judges took part and evaluated the teams and projects from around the world!

Anchita, an Eiffel Scholar PhD student in the Cellular Computing Team at the Micalis Institute, is working on CRISPR interference for regulating DNA-based communication in multicellular synthetic circuits, co-supervised by Manish Kushwaha (MIcalis) and Guillermo Rodrigo (I2SysBio , Valencia).

In addition, Manish Kushwaha moderated a panel discussion on “Cell Free Systems for Rapid Innovation” at the jamboree, and several members of the Cellular Computing Team participated as judges and volunteers.
