Philippe Gérard is Director of Research and is Head of the research team “Food, Gut Microbiota, Metabolic and Brain Diseases” (AMIPEM) at the MICALIS Institute from 2010. His research focuses primarily on the role of the gut microbiota in metabolic diseases (obesity, diabetes, liver diseases) using germfree animal models and gut microbiota transplant strategies. Since 2014, he has sat on the scientific advisory board of the French Nutrition Society. He has authored more than 70 publications and book chapters, and has given over 60 guest lectures on the role of the gut microbiota in health and disease.
